Amy was born and bred in Yorkshire, and read French at Kings College London before training at Arts Ed School of Acting. Amy speaks fluent French, and alongside her native Yorkshire accent she has perfect RP, authentic Lancashire, Scouse, Southern and General US, Southern Irish and West Country accents, with a good ear for others.
Her theatre experience includes Miranda in THE COLLECTOR, both for The Gothenberg English Speaking Theatre in Sweden (director Gary Whittaker), and for Erica Fee / Aslan Productions at The Underbelly in Edinburgh (director Ben Caplan); Bridget in THE SAFARI PARTY at The New Vic Theatre, directed by Stefan Escreet; Jackie in HAY FEVER at York Theatre Royal (director Damian Cruden); Martha in THE SECRET GARDEN at The Tobacco Factory (director Richard da Costa); Queen Catherine of Braganza in THE MINISTRY OF PLEASURE at Theatre 503 (director Stuart Mullins); Sybil in PRIVAYE LIVES at Eye Theatre, (director Clare Smout) and Ophelia in Heiner Muller’s THE HAMLETMACHINE at The Gateway Theatre Edinburgh (director Terje Naudeer).
Amy’s Shakespeare experience includes the First Player in Tristan Brolly’s production of HAMLET at The Broadway Theatre, and various lead roles for The Globe Players including Viola and Juliet.
Amy has also been involved in script development and staged readings of new work for The Watford Palace Theatre (with Joyce Branagh), The Weaver Hughes Ensemble at The Soho Theatre (with Ben Evans) and Menagerie Theatre Company (with Paul Bourne). She has taken four new new plays to the Edinburgh Festival, including the world Premier of poet Simon Armitage’s play ECLIPSE, as part of an 8-strong theatre company solely founded, funded and managed by under 17’s. The production was a sell-out and all 8 members of the company returned from the festival in profit!
Amy’s screen work includes Kenneth Branagh’s 2007 feature film THE MAGIC FLUTE, children’s drama MORRIS 2274 (Channel 5), various short films, a music video for REACTOR’s ‘Feel The Love’ (song from the Lynx advert), 3 idents for SNACK-A-JACKS (No Angels on C4 ) and 2 idents for SPOOKS on the BBC (promos). She has also done stills campaigns for THE NATIONAL LOTTERY THUNDERBALL, and domestic violence charity REFUGE, recorded a 20-minute radio drama AN EYE FOR AN EYE, and voiced-over several characters for Richard Harris’ independent film SOMETHING I PREPARED EARLIER.
