Stephen's recent theatre work includes the role of Sir Toby Belch in TWELFTH NIGHT at Keswick and the same role for The Lion's Part; with them he also played the Dying Summer in Nashe's SUMMER'S LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT (Shakespeares Globe). He was Mr. Worthington in EVERYTHING MUST GO, which toured nationally from the Sherman Cardiff in association with the Manic Street Preachers and Caliban in THE TEMPEST for Derby Playhouse.

Other theatre includes Archie Rice in THE ENTERTAINER and Ray Say in LITTLE VOICE, both at Norwich Playhouse and Uncle Max in THE SOUND OF MUSIC (West Yorkshire). He played in Caryl Churchill's THE SKRIKER at the RNT. Most recently he played Brabantio in OTHELLO (Southwark P/House) and Claudius in scenes from HAMLET at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Other leading roles in repertory include Michael in SOMEONE WHO'LL WATCH OVER ME at Chester Gateway, the title role in THE MAYOR OF CASTERBRIDGE (Cheltenham), Prospero in THE TEMPEST (Lancaster) and Antigonus in THE WINTER'S TALE (Royal Exchange). And at the Bristol Old Vic he was Crabtree in THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL and Egeon in COMEDY OF ERRORS.

Recent TV appearances include OUT OF HOURS (BBC), the leading role of Jeff Thomas in an episode of UNDERCOVER CUSTOMS for Granada, EASTENDERS as the Vicar in the Jackson's wedding special, ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE (BBC) and THE BILL.


Recently Stephen played Michael Jameson, a philandering tory minister in the feature film THE KILLING ZONE.

He has recorded many radio dramas both for the BBC and for IRDP/LBC including the leading role in the award-winning BIRTHDAY GIRL
